2014 hasn't been a very eventful year!
When I look back to markup the main events that made up 2014, I can only name a few. It seems that time shrank and all what remains from a whole year is just a handful of glimpses of very few events. Whether this should change in the coming years or not is debatable though!
Is it better to have more events and activities in my coming years or do I stick to the not so eventful style? Many events and activities make living hectic and one always barely coping up, leading to high productivity but lower level of enjoyment and involvement. On the other hand, having fewer of those provides more time for reflection and thinking instead of high productivity.
2013 was eventful and yet, I still can hardly remember the actual moments or the real sense of time each phase or event consumed. So, it seems all kinds of years after-all shrink in memory to occupy few seconds of pulses of light that illuminate specific moments and events; the rest is just commentary of our own present mind's creation to connect these pulses and fill up the gaps with a more or less coherent memory but not necessarily congruent with the actual one.
That said, it turns out that the actual sufferings and happy moments are almost gone and what remains is how we want to perceived them at the moment of remembrance. Time changes everything including people and personalities. What we experience yesterday might affect us in a totally different way if it identically occurs today because there are few things that changed with-in us. We gained 1 day experience, we had a night's sleep of recollection of random events, and our world changed a lot. If we become aware of these facts then we should grasp how hard it is to understand what other people are experiencing because we are, simply, not them. Empathy is a good thing only when evaluating others' actions to find possible excuses for not being so nice but it is useless when we try to use examples of other people's suffering and others' enjoyment from our perspective to conclude that "we live in an unjust world," and "we don't care anymore because the world doesn't make any sense," and such excuses one makes to oneself to justify and explain why they are not who they wanted to be. The world would be a much nicer place if everybody minds their own business and not make decisions or conclusions based on how they think others feel, the harsh situations they are experiencing, or the lavish happy lifestyle they are enjoying because simply one is incapable of doing this accurately, even with their few hours younger selves.
Wish you a happy new fruitful year of minding your own business, :)
